ICANN 64 | Day 6 – Open Data Program Workshop

Exclusive Coverage by Tarun Taunk, Chief Editor ITVoice

The Open Data Program (ODP), which once began as a Request For Proposal (RFP) to acquire a SaaS open data platform, is now evolved as a fully functional Open Data Program (ODP) as a part of ICANN Org’s initiative. The program was first proposed at the ICANN 61 meet and went fully operational 2 year later at ICANN 63, Barcelona.

During ICANN64, the ODP members updated rest of the community members with the progress and initiatives mobilized since last year and their future plans. The Open Data Program was devised to improve secure accessibility and transparency in present data model and to extend support towards ICANN org’s procedures, and standards for global data usability and reuse.

The meeting was planned around the necessary improvements in Data Publication Process with key target areas being data security, consistency, Privacy and user confidentiality.
