ICANN holds 3 public meetings each calendar year in different regions of the world. ICANN public meetings are a central principle of ICANN‘s multi-stakeholder model because they provide a venue for progressing policy work, conducting outreach, exchanging best practices, conducting business deals, learning about ICANN, and interacting with other members of the ICANN Community, Board and Organization. Usually comprised of more than 400 different sessions, these meetings are the focal point for individuals and representatives of the various ICANN stakeholder groups to introduce and discuss issues related to ICANN policy development.
This year’s first public meeting in the Asia-Pacific region will be held in Kobe, Japan. The meeting will be held from 9-14 March 2019 and will be hosted by the Japan Network Information Center.
Before the meeting, ICANN Policy Development Support team has planned to initiate a Prep Week to allow all the community members to better understand the know-hows of the meeting and policies. During the prep week, all the attendees will be presented with pre-ICANN Public Meeting webinars and allow for better coordination throughout the ICANN organization. The prep week will address the general information and policy structure of the community and increase awareness of cross-community regarding briefings and readout sessions.
ICANN64 Prep Week will take place from 25-28 February 2019. There will be two webinar slots per day at 16:00 UTC and 23:00 UTC.
