Idea offers unlimited calls, 1GB data at Rs 93 to beat Airtel, Jio
Idea just made the ongoing tariff war between telcos more intense. The Aditya-Birla group led telecom operator has launched an unlimited calling plan for its prepaid users at Rs 93. The plan aims to deliver to those who prefer calls over data. The plan aims to beat Jio’s Rs 98 and Airtel’s Rs 93 plans. To compare which is better of the three plans, we first need to know what exactly Idea offers at Rs 93. The telco offers unlimited calls STD/local and 1GB data for 10 days. There are no SMSes or unlimited data offers. Also, there is a capping of 250 minutes per day and 1,000 minutes per week on the unlimited calls. Calls exceeding this limit will be charged at 1 paisa per second. The two comparable plans are Jio’s Rs 98 and Airtel’s Rs 93 plans. Jio offers unlimited voice calls, 2.1 GB of 4G data with a daily data cap of 0.15 GB, 140 free SMSes and unlimited access to Jio apps. The plan comes with 14 days validity. In contrary, Airtel offers unlimited calls, 1GB of 3G/4G data, 100 SMSes for 10 days. The Airtel website says that the plan is available only for non-commercial use. Idea and Airtel are cheaper than Jio but come with shorter validity period than Jio. Jio plan is valid for 14 days whereas Idea and Airtel are valid only for 10 days. Idea offers only calls whereas Airtel and Jio offer data also. It is safe to say that Airtel and Jio are better options to choose than Idea. Between Airtel and Jio, the latter offers more data. Jio offers 2.1GB data for 14 days whereas Airtel offers only 1GB data for 10 days. Thus, Jio is a better choice here. Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone also face a tough competition from each other at Rs 199. Jio offers a 29 days’ plan at Rs 199 while Airtel and Vodafone offer 28 days’ plan at Rs 199. Jio offers unlimited voice calls, unlimited SMSes, and unlimited data with 1.2GB 4G per day data cap for 28 days. Airtel offers unlimited calls, 1GB of 3G/4G data and 10 SMS per day for 28 days. Vodafone plan offers 1GB 3G/4G data per day and unlimited voice calls for 28 days.
