IKEA India is all set to participate in ‘Make in India’ week in Mumbai, from 13th – 18th February. For the first time, IKEA will showcase a model of its first retail store in India. The IKEA store model will be inaugurated in the presence of Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, Swedish Prime Minister, Mr. Stefan Löfven and IKEA India CEO, Juvencio Maeztu in Hall No. 4, Swedish Pavilion.
During this week, IKEA will also showcase a glimpse of its supply chain history in India, some success stories where IKEA has driven innovation and sustainability initiatives, such as 100% more sustainable cotton in its products, 100% LED in its lighting range and a new PUNJA loom which it has innovated with its supplier in Bhadohi to revive the famous Indian handmade carpet industry.

IKEA has made longstanding contribution in sourcing more sustainable from cotton farms in India and today uses 100% sustainable cotton in all its products. It is looking at sourcing many new materials like sustainable bamboo, wood, and particle board with low formaldehyde from India and is actively working with government and organizations to make it happen.
Under the ‘Make more in India’ drive looking for new suppliers in India, it has recently inked new supplier partnerships in Telengana and Karnataka, not only in existing categories such as textiles but in new categories like furniture and mattress. Under the same initiative, IKEA isalso attracting its global suppliers in Europe to come and invest in India.
