Foxconn’s logistics arm, Jusda, has inaugurated a new office in Tamil Nadu as speculation grows regarding the impending launch of the iPhone 15 on September 12. The iPhone 15 is anticipated to be produced at Foxconn’s Indian facility, located in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. This strategic move is seen as an effort to diversify iPhone production. Notably, Jusda is the sole authorized supply chain management company for Foxconn. The establishment of this new office could signify preparations to boost iPhone 15 manufacturing within India.
V Lee, Foxconn’s representative in India, shared this development through a LinkedIn post. He highlighted the opening of Jusda India’s Tamil Nadu hub on August 18, expressing optimism about flourishing logistics operations in the country. Lee conveyed gratitude towards various governmental bodies and individuals who contributed to this endeavor.
Reports indicate that Foxconn’s Sriperumbudur plant is gearing up to commence production of the iPhone 15, aiming to swiftly deliver the devices to consumers shortly after their Chinese counterparts. The company is reportedly striving to increase the volume of iPhones manufactured in India. Other suppliers such as Pegatron Corp and a Wistron Corp factory under Tata Group’s acquisition are also anticipated to initiate iPhone 15 production in India.
However, the scale of production hinges on the availability of components, many of which are predominantly imported. The iPhone 15 has garnered considerable anticipation due to its anticipated features. Apple is poised to introduce significant changes, including the incorporation of the Dynamic Island Notch design across all models and the inclusion of USB Type-C charging, a first for the brand. Upgrades to the camera system, particularly improvements in low-light performance, are also expected.
Furthermore, the iPhone 15 is projected to feature Apple’s advanced A17 Bionic chipset, signifying a substantial upgrade from the previous generation’s A15 and A16 chips.
