India-born Sundar pichai Becomes Google CEO

Sundar Pichai, who had served Goggle as a long-time Google_CEOexecutive has become the CEO of the search engine giant. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Goggle founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin, following the establishment of a new publicly traded parent company called Alphabet Inc. Well, it seems that Google wants to separate the core Web advertising business from other ambitious projects like the self-driving car.

Chennai-born Pichai Sundararajan earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree from IIT, Kharagpur and went to Stanford University and Wharton for his further studies. 43-year-old Pichai had “really stepped up since October of last year, when he took on product and engineering responsibility for our Internet businesses,” as written by Page on his blog.

Pichai joined Google almost eleven years ago as a low-key manager. After working on the Google toolbar, he was noted for his work and soon became the senior vice president for Google Chrome.

Explaining Pichai’s elevation, Page and Brin revealed that they are excited about his progress and dedication to the firm. They further revealed that while Alphabet will be run by them, Google is all set to become its largest subsidiary with the new CEO, Sundar Pichai. Brin, co-founder Google, will become president of Alphabet with Eric Schmidt as the executive chairman. All the directors of Google would now be known as the directors of Alphabet.

While Alphabet would comprise many subsidiaries, Google is slimming down by excluding companies which do not constitute its core Internet business.
