A study indicates that India must provide training to 16.2 million workers in AI and automation, emphasizing that these technological advancements will significantly reshape job roles, create new tech positions, and boost digital skill sets. The report, conducted by Pearson and commissioned by ServiceNow, leverages machine learning to forecast alterations in job tasks due to technology.
The research predicts an increased demand in various tech roles by 2027, with a requirement for Application Developers, Data Analysts, Platform Owners, Product Owners, and Implementation Engineers in India’s tech ecosystem. Kamolika Gupta Peres, ServiceNow’s Vice President and Managing Director for the Indian Sub-Continent, highlighted the significance of AI and technology in driving substantial business changes while ensuring job creation, quality careers, and productivity enhancement.
The study underlines that AI and automation will impact numerous repetitive and technical positions, emphasizing the potential for non-technical workers to transition into more technically focused roles. It forecasts significant transformations in sectors like manufacturing, agriculture, wholesale and retail trade, transportation, storage, and construction, all subject to substantial workforce adaptations due to technology. An estimation of 4.6 million workers will need to enhance their capabilities between the present and 2027, highlighting the shift even in traditional technology roles like Computer Programmers to more evolved designations within the ServiceNow ecosystem.
