Infosys Partners With General Electric To Build A New Internet Of Things Solutions Space

Infosys has joined hands with its long-time customer General Electric to new solutions for its clients in the Internet of Things (IoT) space. If all goes as anticipated, this would be the third important collaboration of tech firms over Internet of Things. Earlier this month, HCL Technologies partnered with its rival IBM and Ericsson tied up with LG Uplus.

Infosys announced on Wednesday that it aims at building solutions in the IoT sector in order to resolve issues regarding asset efficiency for manufacturers as well as other industrial firms.

Infosys further stated that its projects in the industrial Internet space have already been approved by the Industrial Internet Consortium. Founded by Cisco, IBM, AT&T, GE and Intel, Industrial Internet Consortium was formed to bring the organizations in one platform for the adoption of industrial internet and build innovative machines.

“The Internet of Things is about dissolving the layers of complexity and the intermediaries that create distance between the point of manufacturing and the point of consumption, between understanding and preventing points of failure in the manufacturing process, in machines or in critical processes, and between what the customer wants and what is delivered. The value comes from bringing intelligence directly to these end points, and in doing this we can completely reimagine the notion of industrial manufacturing, and every industry, and we look forward to doing much more in our work with GE in these areas.” Vishal Sikka, Chief Executive, Infosys said in a statement.

With US$146 billion, GE is one of the largest customers of India’s IT industry.
