ITVoice News: Looks like tech-companies are getting even more fitness conscious. Intel’s Basis has launched a new fitness tracker, dubbed as ‘Peak’ for $199 (approx Rs. 12,000). The company has informed that the Basis Peak would be made available in US during the initial days of November. It will trend via select e-commerce sites like Amazon and Best Buy, and also its own online store, mybasis.com.
The company touts its new product as “ultimate fitness and sleep tracker.” ‘Peak’ is more or less similar to smartwatch, along with tracing the fitness status and it will also deliver notifications from the synced smartphone. In a company’s blogpost, click here, it wrote, “We’re proud to announce Basis Peak, the ultimate fitness and sleep tracker. With Peak, you get deep insights into how your body is performing, from workouts to sleep and everything in-between.”
It further noted, “While not available immediately at launch, this feature will be a free future upgrade to all Peak customers. And, as Basis is known for, we’ll roll out new software features over time.”
The device is compatible with both Android as well as iOS smartphones. It comes with 5 sensors for heart rate, motion, perspiration and skin temperature measurement, and can also automatically track activity with preinstalled BodyIQ technology for detecting walks, runs, bike rides, sleep and wake-up times.
The peak fitness tracker supports an advanced sleep analysis which measures deep/light sleep, or toss-and-turns, interruptions and even the sleep quality. To talk about the features, Basis Peak fitness tracker supports an aluminium body and a touchscreen with gesture recognition and gorilla glass protection. It has customisable soft silicone straps. The device is water resistant up to 5ATM, or 50 metres, making it apt only for swimming and not diving. It involves vibration motor for alerts and a magnetic charging cradle with a battery life of up to four days.
