Debjani Ghosh of Intel will be the new president of Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT), it was announced on Tuesday. She will be the first woman to hold the post.
The 32-year-old MAIT is the apex body of India’s IT hardware, training and research and development service sectors.
Currently vice president sales and marketing group and managing director, South Asia, Ghosh has been with Intel for over 19 years. In 2013, she was ranked amongst the 25 Most Powerful Women in Fortune India.
Amar Babu, outgoing president of MAIT, said, “Debjani has demonstrated her ability to drive innovation and growth and deliver results, and it goes without saying that she will infuse new energy to the MAIT agenda.”
Ghosh said, “MAIT is in a unique position to drive collaboration in the areas of electronic manufacturing, home-grown R&D as well as ‘Design in India’ in order to fulfill the ‘Make in India’ dream and realize the Digital India vision. I look forward to driving key agendas for MAIT that will strengthen its unique position as the apex IT hardware body in India.”
