Intex appears set to launch a new budget smartphone in India, dubbed the Aqua KAT. The smartphone is available to purchase at Rs. 2,999 via an e-commerce website, however, the company has yet to officially announce the smartphone, or its price and availability.
As mentioned on the e-commerce listing for the Intex Aqua KAT, the entry-level handset runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and features a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) resolution display. The budget price of the handset makes it one of the cheapest Android KitKat-based smartphones in the market. Intex itself had launched an entry-level KitKat smartphone in September, the Aqua T2 priced at Rs. 2,699.
A dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor clocked at 1GHz along with 256MB of RAM powers the Intex Aqua KAT. The handset also features a 2-megapixel rear with LED flash and a VGA (0.3-megapixel) resolution front-facing camera.
The Intex Aqua KAT sports 512MB of inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB). The connectivity options on the Aqua KAT include 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS and FM radio.
Measuring 123.5×63.2×10.5mm and weighing 105.4 grams, the Aqua KAT is available tobuy in Black and Grey colour variants from eBay India. A 1300mAh battery, which is rated to offer 3-4 hours of talk time and 180 hours of standby time, powers the device.
Intex on Friday launched the Aqua i5 Octa smartphone in India at Rs. 7,499. The highlight of the Intex Aqua i5 Octa is its chipset, which is an octa-core 1.4GHz MediaTek processor. The Intex Aqua i5 Octa is the company’s second smartphone with an octa-core processor to be launched in this month, the first one being the Aqua Power.
