The third-largest vendor in India till a while back, Intex has lately been facing tough times.
According to a report in the Economic Times, lack of a product roadmap and strategy for the all-important upcoming festive season, amid supply-side issues that are delaying new phone launches, added to woes at Intex, which is preparing for a public listing.
The International Data Corporation maintains that Intex slipped to no. 4 by sales volume, behind Lenovo, with a 7.1% share of the smartphone market in April-June as shipments dropped 9.8% sequentially.
While Intex is undergoing internal management changes, it is facing stiff competition from other Indian vendors at the entry-level and Chinese vendors at the mid-level, as per analysts at IDC.
