The much-anticipated but yet-to-be-announced large Apple iPad tablet with a 12.9-inch display, is now being reported to be called iPad Plus instead of the previously rumoured iPad Pro and iPad Air Plus, following the naming convention of the very popular iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The leak yet again tips a 12.9-inch screen size, while also detailing the battery size, tablet thickness and weight.
According to the latest leak spotted on Weibo (via Gizmochina), the iPad Plus will sport a sleek design profile at 7mm and weigh less than 700 grams. To put it in perspective, the Apple iPad Air 2, which the company claims is the thinnest tablet of the firm till now, measures just 6mm and weighs 437 grams. The larger size tablet would also be able to fit in a larger battery, rumoured to be 11000mAh and roughly 1.5 times bigger than the iPad Air 2 battery.
Reports from last month pointed towards a stylus for the 12.9-inch iPad Plus that can additionally work with iPad Air models. Rumours for the stylus come courtesy Ming Chi-Kuo, an analyst from KGI Securities. The firm has also previously filed a number of patents hinting a stylus would soon arrive with its devices. Kuo says that the Cupertino tech giant might launch the stylus as an optional accessory for the iPad Pro, as a stylus bundled with the tablet would make the package too costly.
Last month also saw the purported schematics of the iPad Plus or iPad Pro leaked online, hinting at an inclusion of stereo speakers near the power button. We remind readers however, that nothing is official yet, and that all such leaks must be taken with a pinch of salt.
