Mobile apps belong to the hottest trends in the current technology world and keeping in the line with the trends IRCTC has launched an application for BlackBerry 10 users which will help them book train tickets.
A senior official from IRCTC said, “The official IRCTC App can now be downloaded from BlackBerry World on BlackBerry 10 smartphones and book train tickets using the app.” IRCTC ticket booking service has improved by leaps and bounds after the recent capacity enhancement of the portal. The enhancement initiative did cost Rs 1,000 million to the Railway undertaking for making the ticketing site a better place to surf.
These days within a minute on an average 7,000 tickets are getting booked and daily the count is estimated as around 5 lakh. CRIS, the technical unit, has been quite instrumental in upgrading the IRCTC website. Now the newly launched app has been listed on BlackBerry World under the Navigation & Travel section. It is a 5MB downloadand this app will allow BB10 users to book railway tickets, checking reservation status, train schedules, train routes, ticket availability, cancellation, booking history and more.
Director, Business Development and Alliance, BlackBerry India, Annie Mathew, said about the app, “We are excited to bring the IRCTC application to BlackBerry World. With the increasing smartphone perpetration and the increasing dependence on mobileapplications, it is a great opportunity for us to help our customers experience this app for an easy and streamlined train booking service.” About a year ago, IRCTC launched apps for Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices and for the same it collaborated with Microsoft.
