Xiaomi Mi 5X smartphone to launch in India on September 5
It seems that Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is all set to launch its first dual camera smartphone in India. The company has started sending out invites for the launch event on September 5, where it will unveil the Xiaomi Mi 5X . The invite reads, ‘Join us for the launch of our first dual camera smartphone in India.’ Xiaomi launched the Mi 5X smartphone in China last month. The highlight of the smartphone is its dual rear cameras and MIUI 9. The Xiaomi Mi 5X sports a 5.5-inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) display and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with 4GB RAM. It has dual 12MP rear cameras, of which one is used for telephoto zooming while the other is for wide-angle shots. The wide-angle lens comes with f/2.2 aperture while the telephoto zoom lens comes with f/2.6 aperture. A similar setup was also used in the recently announced Xiaomi Mi6 flagship smartphone. There is also a 5MP front-facing sensor with real-time beautification feature. Supporting a microSD card (up to 128GB), the Xiaomi Mi 5X also includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS, A-GPS and USB Type-C. Besides featuring fingerprint sensors at the back, the Xiaomi Mi 5X also has support for DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm for better audio quality output. The device is backed by a 3080mAh battery and has a metal unibody design with curved edges. The MIUI 9, on the other hand, brings features such as Xiaomi’s Smart Assistant, built-in Image Search and a new file system among other features. Based on Android 7.0 Nougat, the new user interface’s Smart Assistant lets you search for images inside the gallery based on names and locations, something similar to what Google has for the Photos app. The UI also includes a Smart App Launcher, which can open apps based on the contents on the screen. The MIUI 9 ROM is only available in China for now. There is no word as to when the UI, or for that matter the smartphone will hit other regions.
