Jayantha Prabhu Joins Essar As Group CIO

Prior to the new role , Prabhu was previously the Chief Technology Officer of the group.

In his new role, he will be responsible for the Group’s IT strategy, enterprise architecture, information security, project delivery and Green IT and Sustainability amongst others.

Prabhu has been associated with Essar since 1999, with responsibilities for both formulating and implementing Essar’s IT roadmap.

Under his leadership, Essar has emerged as an early adopter of IT for transforming business processes, the statement said, adding that some of the IT milestones he has led include making Essar the first corporate to start an Innovation and Business Transformation Cell and also adopting and implementing cloud solutions.

He was also instrumental in the adoption of various technology solutions across the Social, Mobility and Analytics landscape.
