Reliance Jio is preparing to launch a new JioBook laptop in India, as confirmed by a recent Amazon teaser. The laptop is set to be released on July 31, and the teaser provides some key features of the upcoming device. It remains uncertain if this is a refreshed version of the JioBook launched in October last year or if the older model will also be sold on Amazon. The new JioBook laptop will retain the same design as the one announced in 2022, featuring a blue color and a compact form factor. The laptop is marketed as suitable for all age groups, offering productivity, entertainment, and play capabilities. It supports 4G connectivity and is equipped with an octa-core processor, promising smooth performance for tasks like video streaming and multitasking between applications.
According to the teaser, the latest Jio laptop is designed to be lightweight, weighing about 990 grams, and boasts a full-day battery life. Further details about the device are yet to be disclosed and are expected to be revealed during the official launch on July 31.
The previous JioBook, launched in 2022, targeted users with limited budgets seeking a laptop for basic purposes such as browsing and education. It featured an 11.6-inch HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, and 2GB of RAM, offering 32GB eMMC storage expandable up to 128GB. The laptop ran on JioOS and allowed users to install third-party apps through JioStore. With a 5,000mAh battery, it provided up to 8 hours of battery life and included passive cooling support for heat management. Connectivity options encompassed a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.0, HDMI mini, and Wi-Fi, while the device came with an embedded Jio SIM card for 4G LTE connectivity. The price for the JioBook was under Rs 20,000 in India.
