Junglee.com Is Going To Sell Second Hand Used Goods
Junglee, a subsidiary e-commerce venture of Amazon.com, has been carrying out tests that permit merchants to sell second hand goods via its website. The formal launch of the new service is slated to be in a couple of weeks. This will extend the website’s reach to a market where classified listing portals are fighting to gain an edge.
The test has been carried out since July 2015. Junglee.com is hoping to get a lead by offering pick, pack and delivery services for merchants. This will also help it in differentiating itself from its competitors. The portal’s general manager, Mahendra Nerukar will be leading the initiiative.
The portal is fighting an intense battle with Flipkart, Snapdeal for leadership of India’s online retail market, which is valued to be worth $36 billion in fiscal 2017, as per Goldman Sachs. The investment bank has forecasted digital advertisement expenditure to grow to $15 billion by 2030 from $0.5 billion at present. This is driven by the shift from offline advertising to online with mobile and social media accounting as major contributors.
