Key announcements from Reliance’s AGM 2023: Introduction of Jio AirFiber release schedule, Jio SmartHome unveiling, enhancements to JioCinema, and additional revelations

Reliance’s AGM 2023 Disclosures: Jio AirFiber Debut on September 19th, Unveiling of Jio SmartHome Services, Enhanced JioCinema Features, and More.

At its Annual General Meeting (AGM), Reliance Industries unveiled a series of significant announcements related to its Jio portfolio. Notably, Jio AirFiber’s release date was revealed to be September 19th. While Jio Fiber broadband already connects approximately 10 million households, the introduction of Jio AirFiber aims to expand this reach to 200 million homes. This new service functions as a hotspot device to extend WiFi coverage within homes, a concept initially introduced during the previous year’s AGM.

Jio also introduced its suite of Jio SmartHome services, recognizing that a substantial amount of data consumption occurs indoors. This smart home offering includes the Jio Home Router, designed to manage local area network WiFi traffic, relying on JioFiber and Jio AirFiber internet services.

The Jio Home app complements these services with features such as parental controls, content blocking, Digital Security for safeguarding against untrusted networks, WiFi analysis with suggestions for optimizing coverage using the AirFiber extender, and an interface for convenient WiFi management and sharing. Additionally, the app enables smart home automation, including Smart Alarm, Smart Geyser, and Smart Fans.

Jio Set Top Box serves as a comprehensive entertainment gateway, offering TV channels through JioTV+, various OTT platforms, large-screen games, and apps. It can be controlled using the Jio eRemote, which utilizes smartphones for TV control and gaming purposes.

Furthermore, enhancements are coming to JioCinema, which will soon feature multi-video support, Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, and multi-lingual capabilities catering to different Indian languages.

Reliance is also focusing on AI innovation with the promise of AI accessibility for everyone. The company aims to create India-specific AI models and solutions while building up to 2,000 megawatts of AI-ready computing capacity.
