Lanner Electronics (TAIEX 6245), a global leader in uCPE/vCPE network appliances and Whitebox Solutions™, today announced the company will deliver its next-generation network appliance NCA-6210 with Canonical Ubuntu, verified as an Intel Select Solution for NFVI v2. Lanner worked with Intel to integrate the NCA-6210 with pre-configured hardware and software optimal for NFVI deployments, and will help service providers to accelerate the process of researching and deploying the virtualization-optimized network solutions required for future service applications.
Intel Select Solutions for NFVI v2 are workload-optimized network architectures with clustered multi-node configurations for NFVI that simplify and accelerate the process of selecting and deploying the hardware and software needed for today’s data-centric workloads and applications. It contains a cloud node for network function delivery and a controller node for clustered node deployments. Optimized with Intel Xeon Scalable processors, these solutions enable the transformation of end-to-end network management to meet the future 5G-driven applications.
The NCA-6210 will be Lanners first NFVI-ready network appliance verified as an Intel Select Solution for NFVI v2 for service providers to accelerate the time-to-market NFV deployments. Optimized as a NFVI platform for virtualized network function (NFV), Hyperscan, and Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK) software, Lanner NCA-6210 is a 2U rackmount network appliance fueled by dual 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors that each support 26 cores and 384GB DDR4 memory capacity for powerful network virtualization applications, as well as integrated fully featured accelerators to offload packet encryption computing and processing plus speed up AI insights with Intel QuickAssist Technology (Intel QAT), Intel Turbo Boost Technology, and Intel Deep Learning Boost.
Designed with flexibility for NFVI service deployments to address evolving customer requirements, NCA-6210 features up to 8 NIC modules slots and takes advantage of Lanners F.A.S.T. purpose-built modular kits developed to work with Lanners high-end network computing appliances to offer flexibility, adaptability, scalability and transformability by enabling connectivity and functionality, spanning from 10/25G copper/fiber interface, Wi-Fi/LTE connectivity, 4×2 TB P4510 NVMe SSD storage(IO-NVME401), 4K video transcoding and PCI-E expansion capabilities.
“NFV architecture requires the total integration of hardware and software platform to build the optimal virtual network environment for VNF to be deployed” said Jean Tseng, VP and GM of Lanner Telecommunication BU. “The verification of Lanners whitebox hardware as an Intel Select Solution for NFVI v2 not only reduces time and efforts for hardware and software configuration, but also enables customers with flexibility, agility, scalability and cost-advantages to strive in the competitive CommSP ecosystem.”
