Lanner Teams up with netElastic to bring Carrier-Grade Virtual Broadband Networks Gateways and Virtual Customer Premise solutions to the market
Lanner electronices the world leader in providing customizable SDN and NFV network appliances, announced today its partnership with netElastic to deliver virtual Broadband Network Gateway and virtual Customer Premise Equipment based on Lanner’s customizable and scalable white-box hardware portfolio and netElastic’s software-based vRouter, vBNG and SD-WAN/vCPE solutions to the market.
The trends of SDN and NFV have allowed carriers and service providers to shift away from dedicated proprietary network equipment for their data centers. By software-defining and virtualizing their networks, CSPs and telecom carriers disaggregating hardware from software are leveraging x86 based white box hardware with high networking capabilities as their network and control functions, giving them agility and cost-effectiveness. This reduces overall operational costs and eliminates lock-in to a specific VNF vendor.
Lanner and netElastic are collaborating to demonstrate their joint efforts in today’s disaggregated network architecture where hardware and software are decoupled. In this joint effort, Lanner helped netElastic by providing a white-box portfolio optimized for both SD-WAN/vCPE and vBNG deployments. The ideal configuration includes Lanner NCA-4012 with multiple networking ports for vBNG deployments. The white-box portfolio from Lanner for vCPE and SD-WAN deployments is a broad range from the Lanner Universal Network Appliances (LUNA) with an initial 4 core CPU NCA-1515 up to the higher core count appliances.
“As we have been focusing on providing white box solutions to the market optimized for the disaggregation of Software and Hardware in the network transformation process, we build a portfolio that is addressing multiple levels. For netElastic’s strategy being primarily a software vendor for virtual Router, virtual BNG and virtual CPE infrastructure, we are the ideal partner and welcome netElastic in the Lanner partner eco-system” said Jeans Tseng, VP and GM of the Telecom Application Business Unit.
“NFV software and white box servers are continuing to replace expensive and inflexible legacy network appliances,” said Weixiao Liu, netElastic’s CEO. “The combination of Lanner’s true white box solutions and netElastic’s industry-leading NFV software will help service providers disaggregate their networks for greater flexibility, scalability, and cost savings.”
