Lava has launched a new voice-calling tablet called the QPAD R704, priced at Rs. 8,499. The company notes that the tablet is “targeted at young working professionals, students in professional courses and enterprise segment.”

The Lava QPAD R704 tablet is the successor to the QPAD e704, launched back in April, and supports single SIM. It offers voice calling feature, and runs the dated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box; though the company notes that the tablet is upgradeable toAndroid 4.4 KitKat – no timeline for the update has been provided however.

The QPAD R704 tablet features a 7-inch (1024×600 pixels) IPS display. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 1GB of RAM. The tablet comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).

It sports a 2-megapixel autofocus rear camera and there is also a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The company says the Lava QPAD R704 tablet supports Qualcomm Quick Charge technology that offers 30 percent faster charging on the device.

Other features on the tablet include FM radio, Bluetooth tethering, USB tethering, call recording feature and USB OTG (on-the-go). The Lava QPAD R704 is backed by a 3500mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 300 hours of standby time and 10 hours talk time. The tablet supports Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, EDGE, GPS, and Micro-USB connectivity options.

Commenting on the launch, S.N. Rai, Co-Founder and Director, Lava International, said, “Lava International Limited is consistently expanding its tablet portfolio with the launch of new products and our latest offering, QPAD R704 is a giant leap ahead in this direction.
