Learn, Hack & Fun – IESA Vision Summit 2016 Gets A Makeover This Year With Makeathon

The platform enabled participants to get ambitious and futuristic with IoT

IESA & IoTBLR Connected Devices Makeathon has been concluded today with the announcement of winners. The event has not limited the creativity of the participants with any theme. Hence, it witnessed IoT moving closer to mainstream, with new solutions conceptualised and designed around connected devices to address the complex problems around us.

The Makeathon shortlisted 10 teams from hundreds of applications. The shortlisted teams built the prototype of their idea overnight, with Intel Edison and Grove Sensor Kits. The winners are:
· 1st Prize – Smart Packaging Platform

· 2nd Prize – Tutum: Sensing for Prosthetics

· 3rd Prize – ChargeAnywhere

“Makeathons for hardware, connected devices, and IoT are extremely exciting as they allow for creation of prototypes that can interact with the real world in a way that pure software or mobile apps cannot, since the latter are restricted by the limited number of sensors available in a phone. With this event, IESA and IoTBLR have brought together the developer community and the right partners that can support them in going from radical idea to working prototype and eventually to marketable product, in a compressed time frame,” said Nihal Kashinath, Founder of IoTBLR, the co-organiser of the Makeathon.

Apart from the prize money, the winners will be given prototyping support from INDIC – guidance and funding for up to 3 rounds of prototyping. They will also get an opportunity to get incubated at RevvX Hardware Accelerator and mentorship to go towards productization of the ideation showcased at Makeathon. Moreover, all the participating teams have got the opportunity to speak to potential customers at Vision Summit and beyond, through IESA’s network.
