LG had already sent ‘block the date’ invites for an event in New York on August 7, 2013. Now, the Korean smartphone maker has sent out a second round of invites for this event. From this invite, it is almost certain that LG will be indeed unveiling its Optimus G2.
The invite is fairly straightforward and reads, “Great 2 Have you” along with the event date and venue.
In addition to this, LG has also rolled out a teaser video, which does not give out any details but the punch line reads, “‘To me, you are perfect. From G…’
Optimus G2 is said to be the successor of the LG Optimus G smartphone. The smartphone has been leaked extensively over the past few days. Now Twitter user @leakchina has posted fresh purported pictures of this smartphone, which showcase its front and back panel.
Earlier rumours suggest that LG Optimus G2 will come with a 5.2-inch full-HD display with a pixel density of 423ppi. It will allegedly pack in a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS). The smartphone is expected to run on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) along with a layer of the Optimus UI.
Past rumours have suggested that this smartphone will be so thin that the physical buttons will be placed on its back panel. Even in the current leaked images, you can see that the back panel houses the volume rocker button.
There have been news reports suggesting that LG Optimus G2 will come with 3GB RAM. LG has announced that its forthcoming smartphone in the G series will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor. LG Optimus G2 is expected to start retailing from third quarter of 2013.
