LG unveils UHD LCD TVs with Nano Cell technology

download-4LG, at its pre-CES 2017 event has introduce its new TV products. The South Korean tech company has launched three new UHD (3840×2160 pixels) resolution LCD TVs with model numbers SJ9500, SJ8500 and SJ8000, all of which feature Nano Cell technology. The price and availability of the TVs are not out yet.

The SJ9500 comes with 55-inch screen size and is 6.9mm at its thinnest point. LG claims its Nano Cell LCD displays include uniformly-sized particles approximately one nanometer in diameter to deliver more accurate colours. There are hardly any colour changes while viewing from off-center angles, claims the firm. All three models offer Active HDR video with Dolby Vision audio support. The company’s own WebOS 3.5 smart TV UI comes baked inside these TVs as well.

“For example, the color green on conventional TVs can blend with other color wavelengths – such as yellow or blue – causing the color to fade and take on yellowish or cyan hues. LG Nano Cell technology dramatically reduces instances of color fading, image instability and other color degradation issues. Nano Cell technology also reduces reflectivity to maintain high picture quality even in environments with ambient lighting,” says LG.

The South Korean tech company says it has partnered with Technicolor, an image and colour specialisation company to bring a new Technicolor Expert Mode for better viewing experience.

Besides ULTRA Luminance technology for better image highlights, the new LG UHD LCD TVs shown at CES 2017 support different HDR formats as well including HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma). The TVs also come with the improved Magic Remote and the new Magic Link feature, making it easier for users to interact with the WebOS UI.

LG explains that its Magic Link capability provides recommendations for searching content and accessing information about actors and characters on-screen. It is possible to connect the TVs with smartphones or PC using USB cable
