LinkedIn introduces a new AI job advisor for premium subscribers

LinkedIn, owned by Microsoft, is introducing a built-in job coach for its premium users. This AI-driven coach will leverage LinkedIn data and AI technology to assist individuals in researching and applying for job positions. The move comes as the platform celebrates reaching 1 billion members and aims to enhance its investment in AI-powered features.

Previously, LinkedIn had been exploring AI features for its paying subscribers. An earlier release facilitated the use of generative AI to aid users in composing better profile descriptions and messages for hiring managers. However, the latest AI feature is intended to provide a more customized experience. Currently in its initial stages, the feature is undergoing a beta launch exclusively to a select group of LinkedIn Premium subscribers, with plans for broader integration of AI into the platform in the future.

This new feature will furnish job seekers with AI-generated insights for each job listing. It will assist users in condensing lengthy job descriptions and determine if a specific role suits an individual based on their LinkedIn profile content.

For instance, the tool will pinpoint particular work experiences that users might want to emphasize in their applications. Moreover, the AI job coach will also offer guidance on enhancing LinkedIn profiles to appeal to potential hiring managers.

According to LinkedIn product manager Rohan Rajiv, this feature promises a more tailored experience than other generative AI services due to its ability to leverage a vast collection of career data from users’ profiles and connections.

In a blog post, LinkedIn’s Chief Product Officer, Tomer Cohen, described the AI job coach as the beginning of a new era, where AI stands as a supportive resource in addressing career-related inquiries and decisions.
