ITVoice News: Here comes one more Linux 3.17 make public from Linus Torvalds’ Sunday cycle and this update is called Linux 3.17-rc5. This is a big release for Linux 3.17, in evaluation to the previous smaller one- Linux 3.17-rc4.
It has been confirmed by Phoronix that Linux 3.17-rc5 kernel update has fixed some serious performance problems and the confirmation comes from the original release announcement only. So basically Linux 3.17-rc5 brings in several bug fixes to deliver better performance.
Linux 3.17 is expected to be a feature-rich update to the kernel as it has been equipped with new drivers, performance optimisations, better support to Intel Broadwell and others. Now with the initial releases, including the latest one, an early release of Linux 3.17, is not quite speculated. The expected release date of Linux 3.17 is October, 2014.
