Mahindra Comviva, the global leader in providing mobility solutions has announced its partnership with Ethio Telecom, Ethiopia’s only telecommunication service provider for its PreTUPS™ electronic recharge solution. Mahindra Comviva will enable the transition of 29.4 million Ethio Telecom customers from the traditional voucher-based recharge system to next generation electronic top-ups.
The transition is part of Ethio Telecom’s strategic plan to expand its infrastructure’s capacity to accommodate 59 million customers by 2015. Mahindra Comviva’s PreTUPS™, an open standard-based next generation prepaid solution will enhance customer convenience, by extending assisted electronic recharge services. The solution will also benefit Ethio Telecom by enabling them to manage a wide distribution network and drastically reduce costs entailed in traditional paper-based vouchers.
Mahindra Comviva handles over 37 million daily recharge transactions for five of its largest deployments and over 21 billion recharge transactions annually across all the global deployments. Today, 10% of the world population’s recharge is done through PreTUPS™.
