The nomination was received for Idea Cellular’s Private Recharge powered by Mahindra Comviva’s PreTUPS™ electronic recharge.
“We congratulate all of the nominees for the Glomo Awards, which once again saw an impressive number of entries,” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA. “The Glomo Awards recognise those companies and individuals that are driving innovation in the rapidly evolving mobile industry, and we are excited to this year introduce several new awards that highlight the very latest developments in this dynamic industry. We wish the best of luck to the 2017 Glomo Award nominees.”
“We feel honored for being nominated for the GSMA awards,” said Manoranjan Mohapatra, CEO, Mahindra Comviva. “With innovation at the heart of our business strategy we are positioned as a global leader in the mobility solutions space. We believe that by delivering world-class mobility solutions to our customers, we will not only enable business transformation but also social and economic transformation of all sections of the society.”
EcoCash powered by Mahindra Comviva’s mobiquity® Money has a big role to play in furthering the less-cash initiative in Zimbabwe. While the shift to US$ has helped to control the galloping hyperinflation, it has also created a new problem in the form of currency shortage – especially coins of small denominations. To realize ‘cashless-Zimbabwe’ vision, EcoCash followed the “break-the-cash-cycle” approach aimed at digitizing all transactions where cash is involved, including P2P transfers, air time recharge, bill payments, savings instruments, international remittances. EcoCash provided by Econet Wireless, Zimbabwe’s operators has registered 6.5 million customers and built a robust agent network of 30,000 agents.
mobiquity® Wallet Hybrid HCE solution using Mobile Connect brings the best of Mahindra Comviva’s patented Hybrid HCE solution and GSMA’s mobile connect on a common platform. It helps to provide a simple and uncomplicated way to pay digitally in a secure environment. With the rapid growth of the digital economy, systems have to be put in place that facilitate access to digital services in a convenient, private and trusted environment. Telecom operators can act as the go between the customer and the digital service marketplace by offering a single, trusted, mobile based authentication that mitigates the vulnerabilities of a password based authentication system.
Idea Cellular’s Private Recharge powered by Mahindra Comviva’s Pre TUPS™ is a step towards creating a safer world for women. It allows women customers to recharge anonymously at the retailer by using their alias instead of their personal information. Private recharge empowers women as they are no longer dependent on male family members for recharge. Additionally, Private Recharge leads to reduction in spam sales-calls as the number cannot be passed on to the sales agent.
The Glomo Awards are judged by world-leading independent experts, analysts, journalists, academics and, in some cases, mobile operator representatives. The winner of the “Outstanding Overall Mobile Technology – the CTOs’ Choice” award will be selected by a panel of industry-leading CTOs from the worldwide operator community.
