McAfee announced the appointment of John Giamatteo as senior vice president and general manager of the McAfee consumer business. Giamatteo will play a key role in bringing new products to market. He joins McAfee from AVG where he served as chief operating officer. Giamatteo was selected given his global industry experience and hands-on consumer security leadership.
In his new position, Giamatteo will report directly to Michael DeCesare, president of McAfee. Giamatteo will work as part of the global executive team to drive the company’s consumer growth strategy and lead the joint commitment with Intel to enable a safe digital experience for every person around the globe.
“John is an exemplary leader who has driven phenomenal success at some of the world’s most innovative technology companies,” said DeCesare. “He is a true visionary with an ability to flawlessly execute that will be the cornerstone of delivering on our pledge to make security and identity protection ubiquitous in this new area of computing.”
Prior to joining McAfee and AVG, Giamatteo held leadership positions at companies including Solera, RealNetworks, and Nortel. He brings with him an extensive global background, having lived and worked throughout Asia, Europe and North America managing large-scale teams across all functions within both direct-to-consumer and business-to-business models. Giamatteo holds a BS in accounting and an MBA from Saint John’s University.
“Given the growth of connected devices and the new innovations we are seeing around the Internet of Things, our challenge to keep consumers’ digital lives secure intensifies,” said Giamatteo. “But as this challenge increases, so does our commitment. We will lead the industry by providing solutions that meet the needs of individuals’ digital lifestyles, and enable a safe digital experience for all consumers.”
