Mercedes-Benz, the renowned luxury car manufacturer, is pushing the boundaries of in-car technology with its latest innovation. By integrating ChatGPT, an advanced language model, into their vehicles, Mercedes-Benz aims to provide drivers with an unparalleled experience of receiving answers to complex questions while on the road.
According to The Verge, The company says drivers will be able engage the chatbot in a variety of conversations, asking “for details about their destination, to suggest a new dinner recipe, or to answer a complex question” — all “while keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.”
Mercedes-Benz will be launching a beta program that extends to more than 900,000 vehicles in the United States, all of which are equipped with the advanced MBUX infotainment system. Drivers will have the opportunity to participate in the experimental program starting from June 16 by simply using the voice command, “Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program.” Once activated, the update will be seamlessly installed over the air at no cost, significantly expanding the functionality of Mercedes-Benz’s existing voice assistant by integrating ChatGPT technology.
