ITVoice News: If online reports are to be believed, Indian smartphone maker Micromax has joined hands with Cyanogen Inc to launch a CyanogenMod-powered smartphone in the country. A report from The Information confirms that this smartphone is likely to be released in India, by the end of this year.
However, no other details about the upcoming smartphone have been revealed so far, but one guesses that the smartphone will fall in the budget segment and will bring an aggressive price-tag.
It is worth mentioning here that Cyanogen Inc has previously worked with OnePlus to bring a CM-powered device. Originally a ROM-maker, Cyanogen Inc has also released a manufacturer-sanctioned CyanogenMod ROM for Oppos N1 smartphone.
It is also reported that the team behind CM-ROM got a prospective acquisition offer from Google, which was turned down. The Cyanogen Inc is using this point in Series C funding round talks. It is looking at a valuation of about $1 billion.
