Microsoft announces Edge browser for Android, iOS along with Microsoft Launcher
Microsoft has introduced its Edge browser for rival platforms – Android and iOS along with Microsoft Launcher. The Edge browser for iOS is available from the App Store in preview. The Android version will be coming soon.
The browser brings the same functions on both Android and iOS platform. It comes with features like Favorites, Reading List, New Tab Page and Reading View. It also comes with the feature that lets users pause their work on the Edge browser on mobile and continue on the desktop. “But what makes Microsoft Edge really stand out is the ability to continue on your PC, which enables you to immediately open the page you’re looking at right on your PC—or save it to work on later,” says the Windows blog post.
iOS users can test the app via Apple TestFlight, while the Android users can sign up to get the preview app first. The company has said that Microsoft Edge for Android and iOS will launch in the US for now. Other countries and languages will be added later. Some of the features such as roaming passwords and support for iPads/Android tablets will also be arriving later.
The new-launched Microsoft Launcher has also been launched by the company. The firm says that those who are on the Arrow Launcher beta will automatically get the Microsoft Launcher. Also, other Android users can join the preview of Microsoft Launcher beginning today as well.
The Microsoft Launcher lets users swipe-to-the-right to access tailored feed of important events top news, recent activities and more. The launcher is also customisable. One can easily set colours of backgrounds and make use of the new ‘gesture’ support. Microsoft Launcher preview can be downloaded from Google Play. Users would have to become a tester in order to download the preview version.
