With the Xbox One being in the news for reasons ranging from home streaming to cross-platform multiplayer, and the all but obvious price drops, it appears that Microsoft India hasn’t forgotten about its older sibling, the Xbox 360.
The company on Monday announced a 500GB Xbox 360 console bundle that comes with Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Ghosts (as download codes). Along with this, the bundle includes a headset and a 1-month Xbox Live Gold membership, all for Rs. 19,990.
Furthermore, other variants of the Xbox 360 have seen a permanent price drop in India. The 4GB standalone Xbox 360 is now priced at Rs. 12,990 (versus the original price of Rs. 15,990) while the 4GB console with Kinect is now priced at Rs. 21,990 against the old price of Rs. 26,990. Also, the 250GB Xbox 360 with Kinect is now Rs. 29,990. That’s Rs. 2,000 off its old price.
While the 500GB variant seems like an attempt to match the PlayStation 3 (PS3) 500GB bundle with three games, it seems a little too late considering that Sony’s 500GB console bundle has been around for quite awhile.
Its welcome to see the 4GB console now under Rs. 13,000, clearly undercutting the 12GB PS3 by Rs. 4,000. Whether it would make sense this late in the Xbox 360’s lifecycle (coupled with exclusive Amazon distribution and little else), is a questionable move.
