Microsoft Edge Replace The Age Old Internet Explorer

Microsoft has just unveiled its newest browser Microsoft Edge which would replace the age old Internet Explorer. So far known as Project Spartan, Microsoft Edge would be seen from Windows 10 OS onwards. Revealing the secret behind its name, Microsoft has announced that the latest browser relies on a rendering engine called EdgeHTML.

The new browser is all set to have a new layout for new tabs which seem to have a simple flat design approach, thumbnails of frequently visited websites, favourites folder built into the browser, web apps and customized information and support from Cortana , Microsoft’s voice-assistant. Apparently, Microsoft Edge also has in-built sharing for social media.

“With the new browser you can write directly on Web pages (and share them), read online articles free from distraction or use the offline reading feature for greater convenience,” a post on the Microsoft blog reads.

Users would able to install apps to the Microsoft Edge browser as it is usually done in the Google Chrome browser. Besides this, Microsoft has also added support for Chrome and Firefox extensions which can be optimised for Edge. Meanwhile, Microsoft has a lot more to reveal on the Windows 10 and Windows 10 Store, in its annual Build 2015 event in San Francisco, which started on 29 April and will go on till 1 May.
