Microsoft announced the Nokia 215, its most affordable Internet- capable feature phone yet. The Redmond-based company has today launched the dual-SIM variant of the phone in India with a price tag of Rs 2,149. The mobile phone, according to the company is ready to access the Internet with apps like Opera Mini Browser, Bing Search, MSN Weather and Twitter and allows users to stay connected with Facebook and Messenger with instant notifications. The device is also said to provide its users the choice of accessing Facebook in nine local languages.
According to First Post, Nokia India Sales Director Marketing Raghuvesh Sarup, has claimed that Microsoft has come up with this mobile phone to mainly concentrate on the first-time mobile phone users.
He has also claimed that India is a mobile-first market and feature phones are the first port of access to Internet for a large number of mobile users.
To add more, Nokia 215 has the company’s own Series 30+ operating system and VGA camera.
However, in this present situation where people are inclining more towards smartphones in the urban places, we believe that the company should likely work hard to sell the mobile considering it’s price in mind.
