Microsoft Releases Windows Live Writer As Open Source

Even without being updated since 2012, Live Writer has managed to retain its loyal fan base.

Live Writer has lack of maintenance.Not just that, another concern is Blogger. Google is now switching Blogger from an old authentication system to OAuth 2.The issue is that live writer will never be able to include OAuth support.

google has retained the functionality with the old method.But that won’t work for long.THis might pose a problem for the application.

Open Live writer is an open source C# language. The code is available on GItHUb under MIT License.

Not just this the much required features like spell check and OneDrive photo album viewing,Firefox/mozilla plugin had to be removed before the app was open sourced.

The application will be developed soon with the support of OAuth 2 and it will be made sure that its continued work with Blogger. The biggest priority to ensure that live Writer does not lose its fan base.
