Microsoft Teams’ Collaborative Notes now available in public preview

Microsoft has made an announcement regarding the availability of Collaborative Notes in Teams’ public preview channel. This feature is designed to enhance the experience of video conferencing meetings by simplifying the process of creating agendas and action items.

In a blog post, Microsoft stated that Collaborative Notes allow users to collaborate on agendas, take notes together, and track follow-up tasks. This eliminates the need for a single note-taker and ensures that everyone can contribute and view the notes, promoting accuracy and inclusivity throughout the meeting.

Collaborative Notes are Loop components that can be shared across various platforms, including Outlook, Teams chat, the Loop app, Word for the web, and Whiteboard. They can be shared with others via Teams chat or email, enabling all participants to contribute to the agenda before the meeting, regardless of their preferred Microsoft app.

During the meeting, participants can add additional agenda items, collaborate on meeting notes, and create and assign tasks. A new feature allows users to see who is actively working on the notes and view the author of each section by clicking on the text.

Microsoft emphasizes that these collaborative notes can be shared during and after the meeting to maintain project momentum and efficiency. Users can update notes, mark tasks as complete, and add new follow-up items from any location. The tasks recorded in Collaborative Notes are synchronized with ToDo and Planner, ensuring automatic reminders for everyone involved.

Furthermore, Microsoft plans to integrate Loop components with OneNote in the future, allowing users to include collaborative meeting notes in their OneNote notebooks.

The Collaborative Notes feature is available for Windows, macOS, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Edge users.
