Mobile manufacturing industry in the country has been at such an exciting phase. With global mobile players announcing their plans to manufacture in India, the best part now is companies are looking to enhance their portfolio of products in their manufacturing units. Motorola, one of the biggest global handset manufacturers is planning to manufacture its Moto X Play in the country. The company recently announced that it will be manufacturing around six million handsets in this financial year. Motorola will be manufacturing these phones in partnership with electronic manufacturing services company Flextronics. Initially the company was planning to manufacture only the Moto E phones in the country, but with the rise in demand in the Indian market the company has now plans to manufacture the newly launched Moto X Play too in India.
Numerous global handset manufacturer including Gionee, Oppo, Xiaomi has recently announced their plans to manufacture phones in the country. This is primarily due to the Indian government’s ambitious vision to make this country a manufacturing hub as large as China.
The global mobile manufacturing companies are also looking at an alternate destination apart from China and India seems to be the apt destination for them to invest. The future outlook of the Indian economy is quite positive and with improving infrastructure the global investors are finding India the next big manufacturing destination after China.
Motorola is presently selling its phones via Flipkart but the company is looking forward to sell its phones through the retail market to reach a larger base of customers.
