Motorola has confirmed the launch date and two model variants of the Moto X40 based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset

In the race to produce Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagships this month, Motorola has joined Oppo and Xiaomi by confirming the launch date of the Moto X40 series. While Motorola put back its identical launch event from when it unveiled the Edge X30 in China, Xiaomi has advanced the introduction of its flagship a few weeks from the Xiaomi 12 series from last year. If Jiang Zemin hadn’t passed away on November 30, Motorola might have introduced the Moto X40 in time for the Edge X30’s anniversary.

The Moto X40 will debut in China on December 15 as shown in Motorola’s teasers below, with a global launch likely taking place in early 2023. When compared to Xiaomi, Motorola hasn’t disclosed much about the Moto X40 so far. The business has stated that the smartphone would, however, rely on Qualcomm’s new 4 nano-metre SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which contains ARM Cortex-X3, Cortex-A715, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510 CPU cores.

Motorola has also confirmed in its most recent teaser that the Moto X40 includes a quad-curved display, something it previously hinted at. Although just one Moto X40 model may leave China as the Edge 40 Pro, the same teaser confirms that there are two Moto X40 variants as well. Motorola will offer the Moto X40 with punch-hole and under-panel front-facing cameras for sale, similar to the Edge X30. Currently, both models are anticipated to debut with a 6.67-inch, 144 Hz display, two 50 MP rear cameras, and a single 12 MP telephoto camera. For some reason, Motorola has not stated what time the launch event will start the next week.
