Motorola, after launching its new line of budget Moto C smartphones in the US and other select countries, has finally launched the series in India. The Moto C costs Rs 5,999 in the country and will be available across all leading stores in over 100 cities soon. The company has not yet revealed when it will be launching the Moto C Plus in India.
The Moto C was announced last month in two variants – the 3G version and a 4G version. India has received a 4G version of the smartphone. The Moto C runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and is powered by a MediaTek MT6737M quad-core processor. It comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display with 480×854 pixel resolution. The device has 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage and supports dual SIM cards as well. Users can further expand the storage up to 32GB by adding a microSD card.
The smartphone has a 5MP rear camera with LED flash along with a 2MP front-facing camera with LED flash and sports a micro-textured rear panel. Moto C measures 145.5 x 73.6 mm x 9 mm and is backed by a 2,350 mAh battery. The connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Micro-USB and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device comes in Pearl White and Starry Black colour options in India.
Speaking on the announcement, Sudhin Mathur, managing director, Motorola Mobility India and Country Head, Lenovo Mobile Biz Group, said, “According to the reports fewer people are expected to upgrade to smartphones because of concerns over price, need and ability to use. We see this as a huge opportunity for a brand like us to initiate the smartphone journey for feature phone users. At Motorola, we focus on mobility through device innovation, user-centric design and smart connectivity to offer the best possible smartphone experience to the consumers.”
Moto C was introduced alongside the Moto C Plus last month. The Moto C Plus comes with the same front-facing camera and a MediaTek processor. It sports a 5-inch HD display with 720×1280 pixel resolution. The smartphone comes with 1GB/2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
On the camera front, the device flaunts an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and ƒ/2.2 aperture. The rear camera is also capable of recording HD videos. The smartphone measures 144×72.3x10mm and packs a 4,000 mAh battery.
