Nokia 3310 to launch globally in April, followed by Nokia 3, 5 and 6
HMD Global showcased three new Android-powered Nokia smartphones, as well as the ‘reimagined’ version of the iconic Nokia 3310, earlier this year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The company also announced that it will be launching all the phones globally in Q2, 2017. Now, an online report has hinted at the devices’ launch date in Malaysia. According to the report by Neowin website, the first launch will be the Nokia 3310. It will launch in Malaysia by the end of April. The other three Android-based smartphones – Nokia 3, 5 and 6, will be launched in May. For those unaware, the ‘new’ Nokia 3310 runs Series 30+ and features a 2.4-inch QVGA display. It has a 2MP primary camera and supports microSD cards. The feature phone is claimed to offer 22 hours of talk time and one-month of standby time. The phone also has an upgraded version of the classic ‘Snake’ game pre-installed. As for the Nokia 6, the dual-SIM smartphone has a 5.5-inch Full HD resolution display with 2.5D curved glass coating and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM. The phone has 64GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD cards. On the optics front, the Nokia 6 is powered by a 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Phase Detection Autofocus and f/2.0 aperture. There is also an 8MP front-facing camera with 84-degree wide angle lens and f/2.0 aperture. The 4G LTE -supporting Nokia 6 comes with Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, USB OTG and Wi-Fi as connectivity options and packs a 3,000mAh battery. The smartphone has dual speakers powered by Dolby Atmos, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a fingerprint sensor at the front. On the other hand, Nokia 5 has a 5.2-inch display and sports a 6000-series Aluminium build. It comes in four colour variants – Tempered Blue, Copper, Black and Silver. The smartphone has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC. The Android 7.1 Nougat-based smartphone has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing snapper. Lastly, the Nokia 3 features the same build as the Nokia 5, but a smaller 5-inch display. It has an 8MP camera, each at the front and back. Powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 chipset, Nokia 3 sports a polycarbonate back and aluminium frame.
