Obi seems set to launch the Hornbill S551, as the smartphone has been listed on the company’s website. Notably, the company has not announced retail availability or pricing of the smartphone.
The dual-SIM Obi Hornbill S551 runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and sports a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixel) IPS display. The new Obi smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 SoC coupled with 1GB of RAM, as per the listing.
The Hornbill S551 bears an 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera using Sony’s IMX111/ IMX219 sensor with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Some of the camera features included in the handset are HDR, face beautification, multi shot panorama, face detection and more. It comes with 8GB of built-in storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). Connectivity options include GPRS/ EDGE, 3G (both SIM cards), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, FM radio, GPS/ A-GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The smartphone notably features a 2200mAh battery, which can offer up to 8 hours of talk time, and 200 hours of standby time. Preloaded apps include Truecaller, Hungama and more. Measuring 156×76.8×7.9mm, the Obi Hornbill S551 weighs 145 grams.
Last month, Obi launched the Racoon S401 and Fox S453 at Rs. 4,190 and Rs. 5,418 respectively.
Both the handsets support dual-SIM functionality and run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box. Also, the Racoon S401 and the Fox S453 share the same 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera along with 4GB inbuilt storage, which is expandable via a microSD card (upto 32GB). A 1GHz dual-core MediaTek (MT6572) processor powers both the handsets.
