OnePlus 2 To Be Available Via Open Sales Without Invite In Late September

OnePlus has apologised for the delayed roll out of the OnePlus 2 and states that it now has plans to have open sales for the device in either late September or early October. However, no further details were provided on the same.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei took to the OnePlus Forum and said, “To our fans, sorry. We were equally excited when we saw your excitement around the OnePlus 2. We know how it feels waiting and waiting for something you really want, while being given ETAs that go unfulfilled. We appreciate the trust and support that you have given to a relatively small and unknown company like OnePlus.”

He added, “We know that you are rooting for us, and want nothing more than to see us succeed. Therefore, it feels extra terrible to let you down this time around, again.” The company was supposed to offer an easier way to purchase the new device compared to the OnePlus One. Pei said that OnePlus only began shipping in ‘meaningful quantities’ this week, nearly a month after its initial targeted shipping date.

According to the young co-founder, the team messed up. In addition, he stated that the company do not plan on making further promises for future launches.

OnePlus had launched its all new OnePlus 2 in the world’s first virtual reality launch event. Design-wise, the metal-frame design makes it look premium. It sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display. As promised, the smartphone also comes with a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port. The fingerprint scanner is faster than the iPhone TouchID and lets you save up to five fingerprints, says OnePlus.

On the camera front, it comes with a 13-megapixel snapper. It also gets a new camera and a new solution that allows you to take 50MP photos and there’s also the slow motion mode.
