OnePlus 5 gets iPhone X-like ‘face-unlock’ feature with this update

OnePlus rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for its OnePlus 3 and 3T last year. Now, the company has finally started rolling out the Oreo update for its flagship smartphone OnePlus 5T. The company has released the Android Oreo update as part of the OxygenOS 5.0.2. This is the first Oreo update for the smartphone.

The company revealed that it is an incremental release and will be available to OnePlus 5T users in a phased manner. The update brings some bug fixes and mitigation for CPU vulnerability including Spectre attacks.
The OxygenOS 5.0.2 release also updates the default launcher to version 2.2 and the Gallery app to version 2.0. Along with this, the Weather app and File Manager have been bumped to version 1.9 and version 1.7.6 respectively. Apart from this, the update also brings various Android Oreo features as well which include support for notification dots, PIP mode, notification channels and others.

Along with this, the company has also rolled out OxygenOS 5.0.2 update for its OnePlus 5 smartphone. This is also an incremental release and will be available to all the users soon. The update brings some bug fixes to the device along with Face Unlock and a fix for the Spectre CPU vulnerability. The update will also claim to improve the image stabilization for video recording.

The OxygenOS 5.0.2 update weighs 1.7GB in size for the OnePlus 5T and 400MB for the OnePlus 5.

Recently, the Chinese manufacturer confirmed that they are working on their next flagship smartphone OnePlus 6. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau in an interview revealed that they will launch the smartphone in the second quarter this year. He further added that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.
