On February 7th, OnePlus will introduce its premium wireless earbuds, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, to markets in India and around the world. According to OnePlus, the Buds Pro 2 introduces intriguing new capabilities for Android users and raises the bar for spatial audio.
One of the first TWS earbuds to use Google’s renowned spatial audio technology, created for Android 13, is the OnePlus Buds Pro 2. As a result, an immersive experience is created inside a pair of small earbuds.
The company claimed that as a result, the sound always comes from a fixed point and has the same 3D audio quality as in a movie theatre, independent of movement. The Buds Pro 2’s spatial audio has been improved, according to OnePlus, in collaboration with Google, to mimic the immersive, three-dimensional experience found in theatres.
By utilising OnePlus’ spatial rendering algorithm and IMU sensor, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 improves the spatial audio capability while enhancing stability, compatibility with programme expansions, and opening up its technology to other apps. In order to create smooth connections, OnePlus claims that the Buds Pro 2 performs better with Android’s Fast Pair feature, which enables one-tap connections to nearby Android devices.
Thanks to Android’s audio switching capability, the Buds Pro 2 can connect to two Android smartphones simultaneously and automatically switch the audio between them based on your actions, all without having to fiddle with Bluetooth settings. Additionally, OnePlus claimed to have developed a unique stereo up-mixing technique, taking into account the compatibility of the majority of audio sources on the market, to produce multi-dimensional sound from well-known music and video apps.
Erik Kay, the vice president of engineering at Android, commented on the Buds 2 Pro and spatial audio for Android 13, “With Android 13, we added spatial audio functionality with the opportunity for partners to use it within their own devices. With OnePlus integrating this new framework alongside support for Fast Pair and audio switching, we’re looking forward to adding their Buds 2 Pro Series to the Android ecosystem of connected devices that all work better together.”
