Oppo Planning To Partner With Foxconn To ‘Make in India’

After Xiaomi launched Redmi 2 Prime; Its First Made in India Smartphone, another Chinese handset manufacturer Oppo too seems to be interested in joining the bandwagon. According to the latest reports, Oppo is in conversation with electronics giant Foxconn for manufacturing its devices in India. The firm feels that this step will help Oppo to boost its popularity in the country.

“India is one of the most important part of our expansion plans around the world… We are exploring options. We are in discussions with Foxconn, it’s almost in the final stages, we will have more clarity by October,” explains Mike Wang, CEO, Oppo Mobiles India. He further said that the firm might set-up its own manufacturing in India.

Apart from Xiaomi and Oppo, many smartphone manufacturers such as Asus, Motorola and Gionee have shown interest in being partners in the capital construction. Various other tech-firms from Japan, China and Malaysia have also stepped forward and revealed their expansion plans for the country.

The government’s Make in India initiative is in full swing. If all goes as anticipated, India would overtake the USA as the second largest market in upcoming years.
