Panasonic Welding Systems in association with CII – Confederation of Indian Industry and JICA – Japan International Cooperation Agency, today organized a technical seminar at Hotel Hilton,Chennai and Practical demonstration at A.T.I. Chennai with the objective of promoting High Precision Arc Welding Technology in India. The seminar served as an opportunity to promote welding technology which remains the most critical issue for industrial sectors required to assure long-term reliability across applications such as Fabrication of Building, Bridges, Process Plant Equipment, Manufacturing of Automobiles, Railways, Ships. etc.
Some of the key dignitaries present at the occasion were (Chief Guest) Mr. Kumar Jayant,IAS, Principal Secretary , Department of Labour & Employment , Govt of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Masaaki Kawamura,Programme Specialist, JICA India office, Mr Toshi Takahashi, Managing Director-Panasonic Welding Systems India (PWSI) , Mr N.V. Venkatasubramanian, Convener,TN Manufacturing Panel, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – Tamil Nadu and Mr R. Senthil Kumar,Regional Director, ATI Chennai.. The seminar cum Practical demonstration seminar served as a platform to promote Japan’s latest high-precision welding technology into India. The eminent faculty included Prof. Amitava De, IIT Bombay, who delivered valuable lecture on productivity improvement with the use of latest welding equipment & processes and Mr Masaharu Sato, Japan Welding Engineering Society who covered topics including the importance of welding quality control, certification systems as practiced in Japan. With an aim to support ‘Make in India’ vision, this initiative is expected to foster the growth of personnel engaged in the manufacturing sector, Welders and Welding Technologists in particular.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Mr. Kumar Jayant discussed that he is happy to see many Welding technologists and Trainers in audience and adopting latest technology is need of hour if industry has to grow at a high rate and he assured all support to adopt latest technology .Mr. Masaaki Kawamura discussed about activities of JICA in India like support for Chennai Metro and he would try to extend this series of High Precision Arc Welding Training for other Indian cities. Mr Toshi Takahashi added that PWSI is committed to enhancement of upgradation of welder’s skills and has been conducting many Training workshops in this regard but he stressed the need for quality tools like Advanced Welding Machines which help the welders to achieve mature welding skills. Mr N.V. Venkatasubramanian spoke about several actions by CII which brings Technical institutions and Industry closer and he expressed his willingness to support other such activities of promoting latest welding technology in the state of Tamil Nadu. Mr. R. Senthil Kumar appreciated this program of promoting latest technology in welding and assured support for future programs.
