Philips Lighting India has announced the introduction of two internationally sought after European luxe lighting brands – Luceplan and Modular, in India. By bringing these leading brands to India, Philips will broaden its presence in the premium lighting segment and offer luxurious and cutting-edge lighting concepts to Indian consumers. The products from these two brands will be sold in India through exclusive value-added partners who have been appointed in the cities New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Harsh Chitale, CEO, Philips Lighting Solutions – South Asia, commented, “Luxury lighting market today is about Rs 350 Crores in India and it comes from four key segments including residential, offices, retail and hospitality. The Indian market has shown a niche but considerate demand for designer lighting as increasing number of million dollar homes and offices are coming up, which is well in line with our strategy to introduce Luceplan and Modular in metro cities. So far, consumers had to pay higher prices to import such lighting products but now, with the blend of Philips’ expertise in lighting and design inte
lligence of the two brands, consumers will have access to high-end lighting products in their own cities.”
Patrizia Vicenzi, CEO & General Manager, Luceplan, said, “Entering the Indian market under the leadership of Philips Lighting is a bright opportunity for Luceplan to consolidate its growth outside the European market, while preserving its identity. We are aligned with Philips Lighting on creating lighting products and solutions that can enhance the quality of life.”
Bart Maeyens, GM, Modular Lighting Instruments, said, “Our culture of generating true innovation in terms of design and integration of new lighting technology is similar to that of Philips.. We are confident of our success in Indian market where Philips has already been leading the lighting market for the longest time.”
