In a fast-evolving tech landscape, where performance, reliability, and customization are key, ProLab Design is emerging as a distinct player. Backed by the legacy of Acro Engineering, ProLab is not just another hardware brand—it is a community-driven innovation lab dedicated to delivering high-performance solutions tailored for creators, professionals, and power users.
We sat down with Neelotpal Sinharoy, Marketing Manager at Acro Engineering Company, to delve into the brand’s philosophy, its focus on price-to-performance, and what professionals can expect from this rising name in India’s premium hardware space.
Introduction & Brand Vision
Q: Can you tell us about the inspiration behind ProLab Design and what sets it apart in the professional hardware industry?
Ans: Well, the answer lies in our Brand Name Itself! Pro obviously signifies the Professional nature of our products, and Lab signifies Laboratory, Experiment and how many experimental or cutting-edge features we offer the early adaptors. And Design? Well, we are collaborating with our community to design these products, and the incorporation of this user feedback is what sets us apart from any other brand.
Q: What is the core philosophy of ProLab Design, and how does it influence your product development approach?
Ans: Our motto or tagline is ‘Precision Redefined’ and we are solely focusing on performance, while not skimping out on aesthetics. Classy, Minimal and Functional, that’s how I’d describe our design language, and that’s what you’ll find in each and every product.
Q: How does the community-driven model shape the brand’s innovation and product roadmap?
Ans: Acro as a distributor has always valued consumer feedback, and that’s why we have presence and activity all across social media platforms, and we’ve been collaborating with consumers for a long time. But with ProLab Design, we wanted to let the community design their own products; so we started conducting surveys and we developed a bottom line about the consumer needs; and we developed each and every product from there.
Product Line & Innovation
Q: ProLab Design focuses on price-to-performance ratio—how do you achieve this balance in your products?
Ans: With a price-sensitive market that is India, the price-to-performance ratio can make or break brands, and with our years of expertise of understanding products and customers, it was something we achieved by
a. A Strict QC.
b. Keeping an eye on every minute details
c. Keeping up with the latest technology trends.
Q: Your lineup includes high-performance cabinets, coolers, and PSUs. What key innovations do you bring to these products?
Ans: Currently our cabinets focus mostly on Professional PCs, so our cabinets make it easy to install industrial grade (CEB, E-ATX & HPTX) Motherboards and adequate cooling hardware.
With our PSUs, we are following the latest ATX 3.1 & PCIe 5.1 standards, making them future-proof at least for the next 5-7 years.
As for the Coolers and Peripherals, my lips are sealed, I can’t reveal any details, but let me assure you, those categories of products will be something our country has never seen before!
Q: How do your ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 compliant PSUs stand out in the market?
Ans: PSU has always been a crucial component of a PC build, and with the unfortunate incidents with the 12VHPWR connectors and cables, people are sceptical about what powers their system. But in the case of PSUs, we followed the highest level of quality standards, putting in all the safety protocols (OCP / OVP / OPP / OTP / SCP / UVP).
And you can feel how it stands apart if you take a look at the units yourself, by build quality, cables and more.
We will also release the real-time DC Load testing of the PSUs, where we put the PSUs through extreme torture tests, emulating the harsh conditions in which the PSUs are capable of working.
Q: What are the unique features of your workstation cases and rackmounts compared to competitors?
Ans: First of all, rackmounts are in the pipeline, so let’s skip that for now; and talk about Cases.
If we take a look at the popular use cases of workstations/servers we have:
a. File/Data Servers (NAS): Systems which are used as a file server in a local or cloud network, with multiple storage options—for these uses, we have AI838, which can hold up to 10x 3.5”/2.5” Drives.
b. Workstations (Audio, Video, Photo): For standard tower workstations, we have AI828, AI848 and AI858, products that support E-ATX Motherboards, ample amount of storage and mount for cooling hardware to manage the thermals of the latest multi-core CPUs and high-performance GPUs
c. Tower Servers: The AI888 being the super tower cabinet, can hold multiple GPUs and dual Socket Motherboards and can be used as a server or a high-performance workstation as well.
These are very overlooked categories of case design, and while in professional workloads, people are looking for better housing for their hardware.
Q: With AIO & air coolers for HEDT CPUs, how does ProLab Design cater to high-performance users like content creators and AI professionals?
Ans: The latest AMD and Intel CPUs rely heavily on cooling for performance. Unlike older models that adjusted boost clocks before hitting TJMax (the temperature limit before throttling), newer CPUs—since Intel 13th Gen and Ryzen 5000—push performance to the limit immediately under load. It’s up to the cooler to prevent throttling.
Most brands adopted and moulded their older AIO/Air Coolers to work with the LGA 1700/1851 and AM5 Platform, but our coolers are made for the newer generation of CPUs, featuring a redesigned cold-plate, radiator and pump block, and elevated TDP—making them capable of squeezing out the last bit of performance even from a Threadripper CPU.
Technology & Future Developments
Q: How do AI and Big Data influence product design and development at ProLab Design?
Ans: Well, I can’t say AI and Big Data have any direct involvement in product design, but yes, with the AI Boom, more and more people are getting into AI, machine learning and Data Science and they are relying on DIY workstations and computers. Our products provide flexibility and expandability for housing modern hardware with room for future upgrades.
Q: Are there any upcoming professional-grade peripherals that we should look forward to?
Ans: We just teased a FLAGSHIP KILLER mouse yesterday, more peripherals to be revealed soon.
Q: Can you give us insights into any upcoming collaborations or technological advancements from ProLab Design?
Ans: Collaboration between fashion and tech, designers and electronics is the new way of gathering consumer attention. So we do have a few such plans on the pipeline, which we will reveal in due time. We are also working with a few proprietary, industry-first technologies, that’s going to change the computing scenarios in this country forever.
Market Strategy & Community Engagement
Q: What are the key markets and regions ProLab Design is targeting for expansion?
Ans: ProLab Design is focused towards a particular niche, mostly professionals and power users. Our products are available through elite system integrators and e-commerce platforms. For peripherals, we’re taking an aggressive digital-first approach—targeted ads, influencer tie-ups, and more.
Q: How do you engage with your professional community of content creators, developers, and AI researchers?
Ans: We are currently active in Facebook Groups, and Reddit Communities and we are slowly building up our Instagram and Facebook audiences.
Through these communities, we can easily engage with PC Enthusiasts, but for engaging with professional audiences like Data Professionals, Scientists, we will engage more and more via our website and through our System Integrators.
Q: What role does customer feedback play in refining and launching new products?
Ans: Peripherals are built by the customers, no doubt about that, but since we are dealing with partners and end customers for what feels like forever, we do understand the market trends, and that already puts us ahead of the curve. As our young and dynamic team is always in search of the next big innovation in the DIY PC domain, we always stay updated about the latest tech trends.
Sustainability & Industry Trends
Q: With sustainability being a growing concern, how does ProLab Design incorporate eco-friendly practices in manufacturing?
Ans: First of all, to reduce plastic waste, we have removed the outer plastic wrap from the cabinet packaging, and increased the amount of recycled materials used. Our cabinet uses the ABS parts sparingly to reduce waste and landfill, and also, as per government regulation, we have E-Waste Collection Centers all over the country and a registered PRO.
Q: How do you see the professional hardware industry evolving in the next 5 years, and what role will ProLab Design play in shaping it?
Ans: In the next five years, we will enter the efficiency race. Because of the rising TDPs of CPUs and GPUs, we have 1200W as a standard PSU capacity for most high-end systems, and the next challenge will be making them more efficient in performance delivery.
So, all brands will get into the race of ‘More Cooling and Less Power Draw’ and we won’t be behind! We are starting with some flagship products, and we will set new benchmarks in the Indian PC Industry.
